Tonite we
were at the vernissage of Demetrios Papakostas, an artist who exhibits from December 5 to 11th with Heather Midori Yamada all his
newest works. The exhibition takes place at Galerie Espace, 4844, Boul. Saint-Laurent, Montréal, Québec H2T 1R5. Téléphone :
514.284.6720. I watched Demetrios
growing and maturing into the art of painting and I am proud to say that his
work really impresses me today. Dimitrios has not compromised in life, he took
his dream seriously and he developed himself
into a talented contemporary artist of Montreal.
JustinakiDemetrios Papakostas was born in Montreal in 1960.
Papakostas trained in the arts at the Visual Arts Centre and the Saidye Bronfman Centre for the Arts in Montreal with Heather Yamada, Nicole Lebel and prominent Canadian abstract artist Harold Klunder.
Demetrios has shown in group exhibitions at Galerie Beaux Arts des Ameriques, Gallery 3C, Galerie Klimantiris, Galerie L’Espace and the Filling Spaces show at Galerie de la Ville. He has promoted and organized several of his own open studios and exhibitions and initiated and organized a special mixed media event at his studio in collaboration with musician Gianni Bodo, consisting of a live painting and acoustic musical performance, which was appropriately named Paint it Black.
In both March of 2011 & 2012 Demetrios was selected by jury to participate in The Toronto Artist Project along with 200 other artists. His work was also selected through a juried process for a show entitled Weatherproof at Latitude 44 Gallery in Toronto Ontario.
In November of 2011 Papakostas became part of the group of artists of the Galerie Beaux-Arts des Ameriques in Montreal. He is also a teacher’s assistant to Heather Yamada at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts and recently, some of his artwork were selected for a Quebec-made film, entitled “Sur le Rythme”. His work is present in several corporate and private collections.
Currently, Papakostas is represented by Galerie Beaux-Arts Des Ameriques in Montreal, Quebec Canada

Πολλά ταλέντα έχει η Ελλάδα. Κι εγώ χαίρομαι αυτούς που εύ αγωνίζονται για να κατακτήσουν τα όνειρά τους.
